Common questions
"No approver is configured" when I try to submit
An admin needs to set a default approver first: open the Time Off app β Home tab β Open admin settings β pick someone under Default approver β Save settings. Requests can't be routed until that's set.
The deducted days don't look right
Every request shows its own breakdown: calendar days, which weekend days were excluded, and any public holidays by name. If a holiday is missing, check Admin settings β Public-holiday calendar is set to the right country. Half-days count as 0.5 at either end of a request.
Our working week isn't MondayβFriday
Admin settings β Working days β toggle whichever days your company works. Everything else (deductions, the digest, who's-off) follows from that.
The daily digest isn't posting
It posts on working mornings only, and only once an announcement channel is set in Admin settings. If the channel is private, invite the Time Off bot to it.
Balances look wrong after New Year
Unused days roll over at year-end, capped at the carryover limit set per leave type in Admin settings. Anything above the cap is not carried. If a leave type accrues monthly, the balance grows by 1/12th of the allowance each month rather than appearing all at once.
Someone left the company
Deactivated Slack members are excluded from digests automatically and can't submit new requests. To erase their leave data entirely, email us β see below.
Your data
You can ask us to export or delete any individual's data, or your whole workspace's data, at any time β just email actuallyusefulextensions@gmail.com. We'll action it within 30 days. Full detail in the Privacy Policy.
Reporting a security issue
Email actuallyusefulextensions@gmail.com with "SECURITY" in the subject and we'll prioritise it. Please give us a chance to fix it before disclosing publicly.
Uninstalling
Remove the app from your Slack workspace at any time. Contact us if you'd also like your data deleted.
